A south-coast town with Hiriketiya on its doorstep and a season that runs to April.
Dikwella sits between the working south coast and the surf bays, and its calendar reflects both. From roughly November to April the beachfront cafés and the guesthouses spread between town and Hiriketiya run live music, DJ evenings and sunset sessions, with bigger nights over the festive stretch and the April holidays. Out of season the coast here quietens sharply and much of what runs in season simply closes, so a night advertised for the middle of the year is worth confirming with the organiser before travelling for it.
The town's own calendar continues regardless. Wewurukannala Vihara, with its enormous seated Buddha, draws pilgrims and keeps a poya-day programme; the fishing harbour and the surrounding villages add temple and church events, Avurudu games in April and Vesak displays in May. Almost all of that is free to walk into. Where a beach night charges, it is usually at the door or through the venue's own WhatsApp number rather than a ticketing platform.
There are 2 upcoming events listed in Dikwella. They're at Dots Bay House, Hiriketiya.. The next one starts on Sat, 10 Oct 2026 — each listing carries the confirmed date, venue, map and a link to the organiser's official seller.
