A single horseshoe bay with a season that runs from about November to April.
Hiriketiya is one small bay, and its calendar is entirely a function of the season. From around November to April the cafés, hostels and surf schools packed around the horseshoe run live music, DJ evenings, open decks and the occasional full night party, alongside a busy daytime schedule of yoga, breathwork and sound sessions that are often donation-based. The crowd is young, international and highly transient, which means the line-up changes constantly and word travels through Instagram rather than any listings channel.
Out of season the bay largely shuts. Venues close for months, and an event advertised for the middle of the year should be confirmed with the organiser before travelling for it. Nothing here is formally ticketed in the way a Colombo show is: most nights charge at the door or nothing at all, and the handful of bigger parties sell passes through a promoter's own link or WhatsApp number. Times drift later than advertised once the season is running.
