Dutthagamini: The Musical
An original historical musical from The Theatron at Lyceum International School Nugegoda, staged at Colombo's Elphinstone Theatre. Script and lyrics by Odile Melder. One night only, 7pm on 4 August.
Students and staff of The Theatron, the drama wing of Lyceum International School Nugegoda, take over the historic Elphinstone Theatre in Maradana with an original musical drawn from Sri Lankan chronicle history. The story sets two great kings against each other and asks who is fit to wear the crown, told through an original score, choreographed movement and a script rooted in the historical record. Odile Melder wrote the script and lyrics.
It is a school production mounted on a professional stage, with a large student cast and live musical numbers rather than a touring company.
